Journal

To be a hero means to do a great deed that positively impacts someone. Heroes in modern movies are depicted as people who save the world from mass destruction by an evil villain. These heroes all wear fancy costumes and have extraordinary super powers. However, there are also modern-day heroes who are just everyday people. These heroes are firefighters and doctors who save people’s lives, family and friends who help you with whatever you need, an underdog who achieves the impossible; the heroes are endless and don’t need superpowers to still be super. Modern heroes differ from ancient ones in that they are ordinary people doing extraordinary things. On the other hand, ancient heroes in mythology, for example, are sons/daughters of gods and goddesses who are born with great gifts and have power over mortals, sometimes taking advantage of them.

  1. I completely agree with this journal, in fact we almost pretty much wrote the same thing. Unlike the heroes in movies and books some go unnoticed every day like the doctors and fire fighters you mentioned. There are plenty of heroes around us we just don't always see them or pay attention you can almost say the are "masked." Like you said, in reality heroes are endless.

  2. I strongly agree with your journal. Most people value the "heroes" that have supper abilities but there are other heroes that are typical everyday people. They can be anyone between the firefighters to a family member. It can be someone that can make a difference in a persons life, big or small.
